Around two PM today, Sami asked if we could take a little drive up to the Md Donald Forest. She said she was feeling a little 'cooped up' in the house. Feeling a bit housebound myself and wanting to flee the lingering aroma of charred popcorn, I grabbed my ball cap, camera, and car keys. Sami and I found a great little trail today and it's quite near to our home. However, while the trail discovery was a pleasant surprise, I was most taken aback by these giant leaves from the big leaf maples.

....and I still haven't been able to make it up to the Japanese Garden in Portland. There is an absolutely gorgous lace leaf maple up there that I have been dying to shoot. It really peaked in color last weekend and I cannot make it this weekend. I hope there are leaves on it by mid next week as I may be able to take a day off to go play in the ( Read more... )
